About Typeladder

We help people type faster and more accurately by teaching the skill properly, not just timing it.

Why we built it

Most typing sites measure speed and stop there. A beginner who is told to type paragraphs learns bad habits: looking at the keys, using two fingers, ignoring errors. Typeladder starts with how to sit, where the fingers go and why accuracy comes first. Speed follows.

How it works

How we measure

Gross WPM counts every five characters as one word. Net WPM subtracts uncorrected errors. Accuracy counts every wrong keystroke, including ones you corrected, so the number cannot be gamed by fast backspacing. Level unlocking uses net WPM and accuracy together. Read the details in the FAQ.

What is coming

We are exploring optional accounts with cloud sync, a larger passage library and more lessons. Plans can change based on what learners tell us. Tell us what would help you on the contact page.
